Delivering a Seamless Roofing and Verandah Solution in Scone
Kiteleys recently partnered with Hotondo Homes Maitland to deliver a complete roofing and verandah installation for a new country-style residence in Scone. Covering a total roof area of approximately 364 square metres, including the verandah, the project showcased the value of early collaboration, careful planning and expert installation.
Completed across two stages, the project included the installation of the main roof followed by the addition of a substantial verandah structure designed to enhance both the home’s functionality and its rural aesthetic.
Early Planning Creates Better Outcomes
One of the key factors behind the project’s success was the close collaboration between Kiteleys and Hotondo Homes Maitland during the design phase.
Before construction commenced, the teams worked together to review the roof and verandah design details, ensuring both visual appeal and long-term performance. Through these discussions, Kiteleys recommended a guttering solution that integrated seamlessly with the hardwood feature beams surrounding the veranda.
The result was a clean, practical and attractive finish that complemented the home’s architectural style while meeting drainage requirements. The completed detail became a standout feature of the project and was well received by the homeowner.
A Timeless COLORBOND® Roof
The entire roofing package, including both installation stages, was completed using COLORBOND® steel in Windspray® with the classic CUSTOM ORB® profile.
Windspray® was selected for its versatile neutral tone, providing a contemporary yet timeless appearance that works beautifully with the brick façade and natural timber elements incorporated throughout the home.
The CUSTOM ORB® profile is a popular choice for Australian homes, particularly rural and country-inspired designs, due to its iconic corrugated appearance and ability to deliver lasting durability and character.
Creating a Country-Style Verandah Feature
The verandah was a significant element of the home’s overall design and was installed by Kiteleys’ internal trades team.
Extending around the home, the verandah creates an inviting outdoor living space while strengthening the property’s country-style character. The combination of hardwood beams, carefully integrated guttering and the Windspray® CUSTOM ORB® roofing creates a cohesive design that balances practicality with visual appeal.
The veranda not only enhances the home’s street presence but also provides valuable weather protection and additional usable outdoor space for the homeowners.
Coordinated Delivery Across Multiple Teams
With multiple trades involved, strong project management was essential to ensure a smooth installation.
The project brought together:
- Kiteleys’ internal trades team
- Specialist roofing contractors
- Fascia and guttering contractors
Throughout construction, the project was overseen by Kiteleys Supervisor James, who coordinated activities across all teams and monitored progress from start to finish.
Thanks to detailed planning and effective collaboration, both stages of the roofing and veranda installation were completed in just three days, minimising disruption and keeping the project moving efficiently.
The Result
This project highlights the benefits of engaging experienced roofing and guttering specialists early in the design process. By working closely with the builder to refine detailing, coordinate multiple trades and deliver a high-quality installation, Kiteleys helped create a home that combines functionality, durability and timeless country-style appeal.
The completed roofing and veranda package stands as a great example of what can be achieved through strong collaboration, expert craftsmanship and quality materials.
